Hi there, I'm Liesbet!

I'm delighted that you are here. I adore children and want to help your child and family thrive.

My approach

In therapy sessions with me, your child will do playful and creative activities to have fun while practicing skills to build meaningful connections, work with their emotions, and shine as their best selves. These activities blend play, movement, and creative arts with other therapeutic strategies to address your goals for your child and family.

Through playful movement activities, families are invited to explore how the mind-body connection can influence their emotions. Children and adults are guided to notice how their bodies hold emotions and discover new ways to work with big feelings. This holistic approach empowers you and your child to not only talk about challenges, but also experience new paths toward coping, healing, and thriving together. For children who use limited verbal communication, movement-based activities help strengthen nonverbal communication and mutual understanding.

Who am I

I’m Liesbet (Elizabeth) Manders, PhD, LPC, BC-DMT, a licensed professional counselor in Colorado and Pennsylvania with specialized training in dance/movement therapy. I teach in the somatic counseling department at Naropa University in Boulder.

When I am not providing therapy or teaching, you can often find me dancing or outside enjoying the beautiful mountains of Colorado.

My background

My journey to founding Creative Spectrum Counseling included work with neurodiverse kids of all ages in groups, individual sessions, in therapy centers and across school and home environments. In addition to my work as a therapist, I have done research to study therapy and have taught dance/movement therapy and somatic counseling to Masters students. I graduated with a Masters in dance/movement therapy and a minor in counseling from Antioch New England Graduate School in 2005, and later earned my research PhD in Creative Arts Therapy from Drexel University in 2016.
